Mouth Guards & TMD Splint

Bringing Back Smiles

Conquer Your Pain

shutterstock_140081803Nightguards, or mouth guards as they are often called, can be worn during sleeping hours to prevent damage to the chewing surfaces of the teeth associated with grinding or clenching. This treatment. known as occlusal therapy, can help protect your teeth from unnecessary wear and bring a greater degree of comfort to your mouth’s supporting structures.

This treatment is also highly recommended for patients with temporomandibular (TMJ) dysfunction.

A custom impression is made of your mouth which is used to fabricate the mouth guard from sturdy, plastic material. We will then spend additional time custom fitting the guard specifically to your bite.

Occlusal Adjustment
Because the force of your bite can sometimes affect the positioning of your jaw and teeth, minor adjustments may be needed to redistribute or redirect these forces to prevent unnecessary wear on your teeth. Minor polishing of the surface enamel or select dental restorations can aid with this adjustment, and are completely painless, requiring no dental anesthetic.
